Epilogue
End of Chapters
Although this course is designed for both new as well as serious students of Scientific Hand reading, the responsibility on the part of the practitioner is equally important and cannot be understated. The amateur can actually do more harm to an individual by irresponsible negative remarks than a serious student of palmistry.
In your counseling, remember that you are given the position of trust, so seek to guide the individual rather than to impress.
Refrain from sensationalism and exaggeration and expressions like "Oh my God", or claiming to be absolutely sure of 3 husbands, 2 kids and 1 poodle! Please do not mislead people into believing that your answers are coming through palmistry if they are not e.g. you cannot see names of people through palmistry except sometimes by remote inference e.g. a theatrical name of your partner if a line from Heart Line goes towards the Apollo finger.
Never underestimate your ability to influence others especially if what you say has any element of Truth in it. Therefore, please be careful in saying things even in jest. You might never have the opportunity to get the true feedback and rectify what you have said, especially because of the intangible nature of psychological stresses.
Nature has its own ways of revealing its secrets. You will find Palmistry to be one of the best ways of understanding and confirming the validity of the Master Plan as it applies to the whole human race. Hopefully, this course will be the starting point for you to contemplate, understand, discover and contribute further to. this perpetual mystery of life.
Although we may never meet, I am trying to fulfill the responsibilities of a conscientious guide. Remember that at the soul level, there are no strangers! Good Luck.
Hassan Jaffer
Introduction
As one of the oldest sciences, palmistry gives us an extremely accurate psychological insight into human nature. It also gives us a clear indication of all the influences around us, including those of people as well as circumstances, and the timing of such influences in the course of our lifetimes. Here are some important points to understand:
Can You Predict a Person's Life Span?
Certain things are best left in God's Hands and you should never doubt or underestimate the power of prayers. After all, it is the experiences of the brain that are reflected on the lines of the hands and prayers directly influence the source of their origin i.e. the state of mind.
Besides, it is not the longevity but the quality of life that one should endeavor to seek and enjoy. In reality, no one can ever predict accurately the life span of an individual even if sometimes one's estimate happens to be correct.
Unanswered Palmistry Questions
Palmistry has been around for centuries, but no one really investigated or knows the answers to the following questions, although there are different hypotheses for some of them:
- What is the cause of lines.?
- Verify coma victims for Brain line. There are many more lines formed suddenly when a person has a head injury and looses memory even for a little while.
- If the lines are the result of creases, are they formed because the fetus has clenched hands in the womb as the scientists say?
Why don't the major lines ever change if they are the result of clenching the hands! They should progressively increase with usage? In fact, they actually decrease only in the hands of those involved with physical labour! In other words, a pianist will always have more lines than the farmer! It seems that the number of lines are directly proportional to the amount of thinking although neurotics will always have more lines. In other words, you will have more lines even if you think uselessly than someone who does not worry too much.
The more you worry, the more lines you will have!
- What causes the lines to be attached from inside? (pulled in) What is the cause of the deeper colour? Why are healthier lines more reddish in colour? Are there nerve endings at lines?
- Do lines form as soon as the physical soundness of the brain is assured? Does the brain initiate the start of the lines? e.g. 7 to 10th week after conception?
- Which line forms first? All three major lines? In which order- Brain, heart, life ?
- When do minor lines start forming?
A Method of Study and Practice
1) Complete Knowledge cannot be overemphasized. Intuition is a gift which should not be used indiscriminately but intuition is totally independent of the acquisition of knowledge. First, one should learn as much as possible about the different types and shapes of hands, fingers, meanings of all the lines and marks etc. and only when you have established a solid foundation can you expect to use the intuition in a positive way. However, there is no harm in developing the sensitivity to an acute degree and it can actually be a great asset, but only if you can understand the Divine Logic behind it.
2) Observe Carefully There is an old Buddhist saying that "The greatest obstacle to seeing is the eye", which especially holds true for palmistry! One must observe and continuously learn to increase the powers of observation in order to assimilate and confirm the knowledge acquired.
3) After having thoroughly learnt the basis of palmistry and observed the hands of numerous friends and relatives, you will be ready to cautiously proceed to interpret the hands on a professional basis.
The following steps are suggested to ensure that you do not miss any steps and also to follow a logical approach to scientific hand reading:
1 Shape of hands
2 Fingers (shape - fat, thin, knotty, smooth)
3 Length of fingers
4 Lines
5 Natural direction of lines
6 Deviation mounts
7 Marks, islands, crosses
8 Minor lines
Which Hand Should You Read?
As the lines of the hands are formed by nervous energy, the hand used for writing is the one that keeps on modifying. It is this "writing hand" (whether you use it as the main working hand or not) that should be read.
The As the lines on the hand that you write with are constantly changing according to one's actions, palmistry offers an invaluable tool provided by nature to monitor the direction of one's "destiny" throughout the individual's life.
The hand that you do not write with is used only as a reference to see if the lines on the "writing hand" have changed for better or for worse. It is also used to get an indication of inherited traits and genetic predisposition.
The comparison between the two hands is used to "predict" the outcome of the individual's actions and the anticipated behavior when under stress, in other words the "future of the individual"!
To prepare yourself for applying the principles of palmistry, familiarize yourself with the following illustration:

How do Improvements Show on the Hand?
Although the major lines do not change much, you should carefully look for even small improvements because they can be very significant . For example, an island on the Head Line disappearing will indicate that the person does not have to worry about a nervous breakdown anymore! When a person overcomes his limitations, then you will find the following improvements in the hand that you write with (observe with reference to the other hand): (Fig.1)
- The palm will be clearer with fewer lines - i
- Faint lines will become stronger and deeper - ii
- Chained lines become clearer and straight - iii
- Disappearance of islands on the lines - iv
- Protection of a broken line by the appearance of a square around the break
or an overlapping line beside the break - v
Ambidextrous Hands
Some people are ambidextrous and can use both hands with equal facility. However, although some of them may be using both hands for their work, they might be using only one hand for writing. In this case, the rule of the "writing hand" still applies i.e. the hand that they write with should be analyzed.
In the rare hands of individuals who actually write with both the hands, then the two hands should be looked at carefully for repetition of any major "theme" or event.
Types of Hands
The Practical Hand

This hand is sometimes referred to as the square hand because it has a square palm.
The practical hand normally has short or medium length fingers, but could have long fingers also. People with practical hands are practical, down-to-earth, orderly, methodical, disciplined, traditional, conformists and used to routine and monotonous type of work.
They tend to be dependable and trustworthy both in their friendships as well as in their promises. These are the workers of the society, carrying on its traditions and their successes are slow and steady. They achieve in the long run, due to their perseverance and tenacity.
They are not very adaptable and versatile, but will excel in the practical applications of knowledge. This hand is normally quite full at the base of the palm, indicating the importance of the physical gratification of the senses for such people.
The Philosophical Hand

These normally large and bony hands are characterized by the presence of prominent knots in the joints.
Those with philosophical hands have a deliberate, reflective, studious and philosophical type of mind, with the capacity for powerful analysis and deep insights in their work. They are constantly searching for the "truth" in art, literature, science, religion or philosophy, depending on the type of hand they have (e.g. square for the sciences).
Although these people have an element of wisdom about them because of their innate ability to understand the reasoning behind the events in life, they must guard against dogma, sarcasm, intellectual conceit and isolation. Self mastery, self-knowledge, human behavior, natural sciences and philosophy are their interests.
Among the main drawbacks of such individuals, is their inability to delegate work to others because of their perfectionism and skepticism of other work. In religion, they become either extremely involved or they start investigating and questioning every religion at the expense of their own faith . Their best asset is logic and the ability to reason with great analytical tenacity.
The Artistic Hand

The physical characteristics of these graceful hands with tapering fingers justify the artistic temperaments of their possessors. These are the hands that Leonardo painted in his Mona Lisa.
As the name implies, these people are sensitive to colour, beauty, art, music and poetry, harmonious surroundings, and have a natural appreciation for romance, drama, theater and anything else that appeals to their fantasies.
These hands are some-what larger and fuller than the Psychic hands and are usually quite soft, indicating a procrastinating nature and a love of comfort and luxury.
Artistic hands are more in search of beauty and truth, more susceptible to an intuitive approach to life than one backed by rigorous logic and reasoning, and more inclined to verbal eloquence rather than accuracy in communication with scientific precision.
These people tend to be easily swayed by emotions, sentiments, superstitions, sorrow and verbal charm and must therefore guard themselves against gullibility, trustworthiness and psychic vulnerability. They should try to develop their aesthetic sensibilities through hobbies or their careers. The success of people with artistic hands depends of the firmness of the hand and the strength of the head line. It is important for these individuals to learn to sublimate their escapist tendencies at an early age.
The Psychic Hand

These beautiful hands are more pointed and frail looking than the artistic hands and are thin with long, slender and tapering fingers with very smooth joints. These hands belong to idealists and dreamers who are the least materialistic in all the hand categories.
People with such hands are impractical and lack any business sense. They are the inspirational types and are gifted with artistic creativity, sensitivity to nature, colour, sound and beauty.
They tend to be very idealistic and romantic in love but often suffer disappointments because of the unrealistic expectations of their partners whom they idealize.
They are emotionally so vulnerable that they keep repeating the same deceptive patterns and keep setting themselves up for sorrow over and over again. These disappoints can either make them even more creative in art, poetry or music if properly channeled, or they can cause melancholic bouts of depression.
Their search for the ideal and their devotion to beauty is best sublimated in music, inspirational art, literature and poetry. they also thrive in the movies where they can project their fantasies on the screen, or in modeling and the visual arts. They are very intuitive as well as impressionable. Their beliefs are based on blind faith rather than logic and they must guard themselves against spiritual delusions.
The Spatulate Hand

The fingers resemble a "spatula" and the palm is very broad either at the base of the fingers or at the wrist.
In the first case, they tend to be more practical and constructive in their inventiveness, whereas in the second case they tend to be more impulsive, action-oriented and prone to displays of temper.
People with spatulate hands are usually very energetic, futuristic, unconventional, extremely self-confident and bold in their ideas and their actions.
The Mixed Hand

This type of hand has a combination of the other types of fingers and can be found with a palm of any group.
The fingers and the palm should be analyzed very carefully to see the amount of practicality presently, because this will determine whether the individual will be truly versatile or a "Jack of all trades". These people tend to get bored easily and have a tendency to jump from one project to another as soon as the initial challenge is over.
It is important for them to learn to finish what they start, and the best way for them to use their versatility is to take on short projects which are not monotonous or boring and which offer continuous stimulation to their enthusiasm. People with mixed hands thrive in a chaotic environment because of their adaptability to change.
