I never really found numerology to be as authentic as palmistry and astrology mainly because the astrological roots were never written about. However, I have a good friend Marcus who is really into numbers and our Mercury in Fire signs trine each other and we both have a Mercury Pluto trine (conscious awareness of divine truths), and we enjoy each others enthusiastic nature.
I know Marcus and his chart well enough to realize that he feels the underlying truth but we needed to find some astrological reasoning. I asked him to describe the normal interpretation of the numbers so I could figure out if there was some astro-reasoning behind it. I have my own way of looking at numerology and personally find relevance only with numbers 7, 8 and 9 and maybe 5 for some Leo qualities.
It took me about half an hour to find some amazing correlation (everything is amazing with Fire signs!) and I am publishing the astro-numerlogy connection here.
This is the first time anyone has correlated planets with numbers, and I particularly like the conection between "master numbers" 11 and 22 with Uranus (Aquarius) and Neptune (Pisces).
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were
not known to the ancients but they described the qualities of the
numbers associated with these planets acccurately enough that I was
able to put the two together. So if there is anything to numerology,
the astrological principles behind the numbers would help undersatand
it better.
1 Mars (Aries):
Independence and leadership. New beginnings. Generals, corporate
leaders, and political leaders. Enthusiasm and drive to accomplish.
Action. Inventor. Need to follow your own convictions. Ambitious.
Aggressive. Self promoter. Self-centered.
2 Moon (Cancer):
Sensitive and caring. Habit, routine and familiar patterns important.
Natural collector. Can be pessimistic and lethargic. Prefers less
competitive envionment.
3 Mercury (Gemini):
Expressive, social, creative and communicates well. Entertainers,
bright, effervescent and optimistic attitude. Verbal charm, writing,
speaking, acting. Warmth, friendliness but needs to develop inner
talents. Positive. Not good at handling money. Opening of doors, high
creativity, some popularity and limelight. Superficial and scattered.
Above-average ability in some art form. Can achieve a lot if better
focused.
4 Mercury (Virgo):
Practical, down-to-earth, persevering. Excellent organizer and planner.
Lot of common sense. Loyal and dependable business partner. Patient
with quiet determination. Don't get caught up in daily routine or you
will miss major opportunities. Necessary hard work, research,
intellectual work.
5 Sun (Leo):
Versatile, adventurous, and progressive. Sign of freedom and
independence. Not good for routine or boring work. Good for motivating
people. Happy-go-lucky person. Innate ability to think through complex
matters and analyze them quickly. New projects all the time and pursuit
of sensation and adventure. Can become self-indulgent and self-serving.
Fun but also temptation, parties, expansion, sensual excess,
flirtatious, seeking different new angles.
6 Venus (Taurus):
Very stable. Home, family and friends very important. Paying debts.
Excellent at giving advice and patient support. Leads by example.
Responsible and always ready to help community. Sympathetic, kind and
generous with personal and material resources. Avoid being overwhelmed
by responsibilities.
7 Venus (Libra):
with some (Pluto-Scorpio): Peaceful. Analytical. Intellectual,
scientific and likes to draw independent conclusions. This is a
spiritual number and may indicate spiritual wisdom. You dislike crowds,
noise and violence. You quickly and accurately evaluate situations. Few
but longterm friends. Aloof. Insecurities can make them pessimistic and
secretive. Negative 7 can be selfish and spoiled. Period of slowing
down, rest, meditation and fine tuning.
8 Saturn (Capricorn):
Many powerful, confident and materially successful people. Practical,
business like and corporate with no time for dreams and visions.
Ambitious and good organizational skills. Status conscious. Ability to
conceive long range plans and follow them to completion. Steady
achievement in the business world. Can be dictatorial and lacking in
enthusiasm. Material gains and rewards important, even to the neglect
of family and home. Dedication to success can become an obsession. Lack
of emotional feelings may resulting in isolation and loneliness. Money,
cash, busy period financially, rewards if you deserve, legal hassles if
you don't.
9 Jupiter (Scorpio-Sagittarius):
Compassionate, generous and very humanitarian attitude. Lessons of
life. Trustworthy and unlikely to harbor any prejudice. Philosophical.
Judges, spiritual leaders, healers and educators. Often materially
rewarded in significant ways. Strong desire to help the
underprivileged. Often artistic and talented in literary fields,
painting, writing, music or other art forms. Better for helping and
healing professions than the business world. Ability to make friends
easily, as people are attracted to their magnetic, open personality.
Gift of understanding people, sympathetic, tolerant and broad-minded.
Also a romantic who gets lost in love and passion. Difficulties in
relationships if partner's focus is on material things. Soul searching
period, transformation, letting go and humanitarian pursuits.
11 Uranus (Aquarius):
(master number) fits in between 3 and 4 (Mercury-ideas and Virgo-
developing them). Illumination and spiritual awareness, understanding
and knowledge beyond the grasp of others. Intuitive, avant-garde,
idealistic, visionary, and cultured. These extremes make them
interesting but unusual with much to offer society. Inventive and
broad-minded views, people oriented and humanitarian in nature. Nervous
tension can make them difficult people to deal with. Often mood swings
between elation and depression. More of a conceptual than a practical
person. Often a dreamer, visionary and a talented "idea" person.
22 Neptune (Pisces):
This is supposed to be the higher of the two master number Fits in
between 9 and 1. Beyond worldly affairs. The most difficult path to
live up to and fulfill. Endowed with many powers from within and they
can reach any heights in life. Equipped with suitable education, can be
a master builder in society. Idealistic, very understanding, but also
the ability to apply knowledge in a practical way allows them to
conceive far-reaching plans and carry them to the end. Possible to
achieve enormous success, prestige, and fame if they are willing to
work for it. Capacity to accomplish a great deal with little effort.
